Bio

Writing is a life-long passion but I’ve always made a living doing other things. I’ve been a first responder, an archaeologist, and in early 2025, I retired after a nearly three-decade career in technology to focus exclusively on writing.

My first published short story, a fantasy novelette called ‘The Ethics of Elemental Servitude’, appeared in The Worlds Within in March of 2023, and later sold as a reprint to a small press anthology, The Apparatus Almanac, from JayHenge Publishing. My short fiction has also appeared in Creepy, Suburban Witchcraft Arts & Literature Magazine, Dark Horses Magazine, and 365tomorrows.

On the TTRPG side of things, I have been developing and running custom campaigns for more than forty years for a variety of systems, including D&D, Cyberpunk, Traveller, Champions, and Innersphere, a homegrown system initially developed by Bruce Irving and Gary Bloomfield that I’ve spent many years revising and expanding.

I make my home in Lake Forest Park, Washington, just north of Seattle. When not telling stories, you can find me on the mat at Two Cranes Aikido, diving the Salish Sea, hanging out with my three amazing adult daughters (Ashley, Maddy, and Charlotte), and exploring the mountains and coastlines of the Pacific Northwest with my wife, Susie, and my dog, Jack.

Work In Progress

On the new work front, I’m currently looking for a publisher for a fantasy novella, The Solace of Things Long Forgotten, and I’m in the middle of two new projects, a science fiction short story and a horror novella.

Recognition

In 2025, my short story, ‘A Gravedigger of the Deepholds’ was nominated for a 2025 Pushcart Prize.

In 2023, my novelette, ‘The Ethics of Elemental Servitude’ received an Honorable Mention in the Q3 2023 Writers of the Future Contest.
